Я самый худший на земле. И нет во мне понимания должного.

Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man.

Я не научился быть мудрым и ничего не знаю о Боге.

I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.
|

|
Кто когда поднялся на небо и возвратился обратно? Кто когда поймал рукой ветер? Кто когда удержал воду в одежде своей? Кто создал всю землю? Как имя его, и кто сын его? Скажи мне, если знаешь ответ!

Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?

Каждое Слово Господне - истинно. Он - спасение для идущих к Нему.

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Не пытайся изменить, сказанное Богом; если попробуешь, Он накажет тебя и докажет, что ты лжёшь.

Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
|

Господи, прошу тебя, прежде чем я умру, сделай две вещи для меня:

Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die:
|

Помоги мне не лгать. Не дай мне быть слишком бедным или слишком богатым. Дай мне только, что нужно каждый день.

Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:
|
|

|
Если будет у меня больше, чем нужно, буду думать, что без Тебя обойдусь. Но могу украсть, если буду бедным, и Имя Твоё позором покрыть.

Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
|

Никогда не говори хозяину плохо о слуге его. Если скажешь, хозяин тебе не поверит, и будет тебя подозревать.

Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.
|
|

|
Некоторые говорят против отцов своих и не уважают матерей.

There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.

Есть люди, думающие хорошо о себе, когда на самом деле они плохие.

There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

Есть такие, кто думает, что они намного лучше других.
|

There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.

Есть люди, зубы которых подобны мечам, а челюсти словно ножи. Время тратят они на то, что всё отбирают у бедных.

There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

Некоторые хотят забрать всё, что могут получить, они всегда говорят: „Давай, давай, давай". Есть три вещи, которые никогда не насытить, даже четыре, которым всегда всего мало:

The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough:

место смерти, бездетная женщина, пересохшая земля, ждущая дождя, и горящее пламя, которое не остановить.

The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.

Будет наказан любой, кто смеётся над отцом, или мать не слушает свою. Так же плохо будет ему, как если бы глаза его выклевал стервятник или дикие птицы.

The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

Есть три вещи, которые трудно понять мне, даже четыре, которые не понимаю:

There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:

орёл, парящий в небесах, змея, ползущая по скалам, корабль, плывущий через океан, и мужчина, влюбленный в женщину.

The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.

Неверная жена ведёт себя так, будто ничего не сделала плохого. Она ест, принимает ванну и говорит, что ничего не совершила.

Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.

Есть три вещи на земле, которые приносят несчастья, вернее четыре, которые земля не выносит:

For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear:

There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:

Муравьи маленькие и слабые, но они собирают всё лето пищу себе,

The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;

барсук, небольшой зверёк, но способный устроить нору свою в скалах.

The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;

|
Нет царя у саранчи, но работают многие вместе.

The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;

Мала ящерица, можно руками поймать, но можно увидеть её, живущей в покоях царей.

The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces.

If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth.

Если человек сбивает молоко, он делает масло; если бьёт другого по носу, то появится кровь, точно так же, если рассердишь людей, то будешь причиной дела в суде.

Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.
