Пришли в Мерру - и не могли пить воды в Мерре, ибо она была горька, почему и наречено тому месту имя: Мерра.

И стал народ роптать, говоря Моисею: „Что же нам пить?"

І прийшли вони до Мари, і не могли пити води з Мари, бо гірка вона. Тому названо ймення їй: Мара.
